IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO ACCEPT THE RISKS WITH SHIPPED HATCHING EGGS THEN PLEASE DON'T BID -THANK YOU!ESTABLISHED BLOODLINES: Current bloodlines in addition to my own work includes Mashburn and Kolpak which is a blend of Mashburn and Greenfire lines.
MARANS: The 12++ hatching eggs are from my Black Copper Marans breeding pen. You will receive a total of 12 eggs plus 2 extra depending on availability.
MY GOALS: I'm a member of the Marans Chicken Club USA - MCCUSA and The Marans Club. I work diligently to improve my flock each generation. I work to maintain the APA standard of perfection which is based on the standards set forth by the French Marans Club.
EGG COLOR: Marans eggs are generally quite dark and tend to lighten up as the laying cycle continues. After they molt and production starts up again then the cycle starts over. My hens are in various laying cycles therefore egg color may vary from what you see in the picture. The best Marans eggs will typically score 4-7. Eggs that score 8 and 9 aren't as common.
EGG SHELLS: Marans egg shells are extremely tough. Chicks may have a hard time hatching and higher than average mortality is possible.
CHICKS: Statistically chicks will hatch as Black Copper.
RECESSIVES: Marans that don't meet the APA standard aren't kept in my breeding pens. However, recessives can happen and offspring may have non feathered legs, yellow legs, and improper markings.
PAYMENT: Payment is due within 24 hours after the auction has ended. I usually ship with 24-48 hours after payment. I prefer to ship Monday thru Thursday and I will avoid weekend shipping as much as possible.
PACKAGING/SHIPPING: I package eggs for shipment once payment has been received. Eggs are double boxed using a hybrid version of the Meeks Method.
Each egg is inserted into a self seal bubble wrap packet per USPS regulations. Care must be used removing eggs from the bubble wrap. Tearing and pulling the bubble wrap can crack or break the eggs. I suggest using scissors to cut at the top or bottom of the bubble wrap to remove each egg.
ADDITIONAL SHIPPING INFO: Shipping charges are a flat .50 via USPS Priority Mail. The package will be insured against loss and/or damage. You will get an email notification with the tracking number from the USPS when the package ships. I don't combine shipping with multiple auctions won. I'm limited to the number of eggs I can safely ship. I don't give shipping discounts either. Shipping to the lower 48 only. Sorry but no shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. I will only ship to Paypal confirmed address.
POST OFFICE PICK UP: If you would like to arrange the pickup of your package at your USPS location then you will need to provide me with your home/cell phone number for me to write it on the package.
DAMAGE CLAIMS: In the event your package and contents are damaged then you will need present them to your local USPS Postmaster so the damage can be verified and you will need to take photos of the damage and forward them to me so I can file a damage claim with the USPS. I will also need your email and phone number for claim purposes. Once the claim is settled you will either get a full refund or replacement eggs if I have them available.
HELPFUL TIPS: Once you receive your eggs you can set them immediately in your incubator but avoid turning them for the first 24-36 hours. The handling of eggs during the incubation period is to be avoided and this includes candling. Marans eggs can very difficult to candle and they take an extra strong light. The standard candling lights on the market do not have sufficient light for these eggs. If you would like to candle your eggs then I recommend it at day 18 using a strong flashlight. If you have any questions then feel free to ask. I will respond as promptly as I can.
HEALTH/TESTING: I’m a licensed Pennsylvania State Certified Poultry Technician through the Pennsylvania Dept of Ag. My birds are healthy and have tested negative for avian influenza and salmonella pullorum. My testing is done through the Penn State Diagnostic Lab. I'm required by the state to test my bird yearly for exhibition purposes.
CONTACTING ME: I will answer all questions. Please understand that it may take a few days due to my work schedule. I work in the outdoors therefore I'm not always near an internet source.
FEEDBACK: Please do not rate my feedback on your hatch rate as I have no control over this. Feedback should be based on your receipt of eggs. I will reciprocate any positive feedback given.
*****DISCLAIMER***** You are responsible for your bids so please bid responsibly. Bidders must understand that shipped hatching eggs can be a risk and fertility cannot be guaranteed due to variables beyond my control once the eggs leave my possession. Hatching rates can be compromised through rough postal handling at the sorting centers or by USPS personnel. This may include shifting of package contents through falls or throws, x-ray of the package, and delivering the package in adverse weather conditions. Buyer variables may include an inferior incubator, improper incubation practices such as setting the eggs under a broody hen, excessive handling of the eggs during incubation, and/or incubator failures such as a loss of power or not maintaining proper humidity for the eggs. I'm not responsible for any of these potential problems. Hatching eggs are perishable and are not returnable. If you find this information unacceptable then please do not bid,
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
