*P
rior to bidding, please read the warning at the bottom of this listing regarding the risk of incubating shipped eggs.*
This listing is for 12 assorted hatching egg(s) that will hatch a random assortment of Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Sage Eggers, & Turquoise Eggers (mostly F1, some F2).
Grateful Akers Farm & Apiary
is excited to offer hatching eggs from our mixed flock of pasture-raised hens. We have a wide variety of breeds on the farm, ranging from hard to find heritage birds to self-bred barnyard mixes (
refer below for breed list
).
Most, if not all, hens that hatch from these eggs will lay stunning shades of Sky Blue, Olive Green, Sage Green, or Turquoise eggs (
refer to 1st & 3rd photos
). Don't be fooled by the brown & white eggs in our second photo! Our roosters are pure bred Lavender Ameraucana and Crested Cream Legbar, so their genes mixed with our brown or white egg-layers produce hens that lay varying shades of blue or green, some with spots!
Just to be clear
, even though the eggs that you are bidding on and receive from us will look like the eggs in the
second
photo (
brown, white, blue, green
), they will hatch Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, Sage Eggers, and Turquoise Eggers who lay the egg colors you see in the first and third photos!

Hen/Rooster pairing possibilities
:
These eggs were laid by our mixed flock of pasture-raised/free-range/overly-loved/spoiled hens (Cuckoo Marans, French Black Copper Marans, Blue Birchen Marans, Australorp, Salmon Faverolle, Crested Cream Legbar, Leghorn, Isbar, Olive Egger, Sage Egger, Easter Egger, Turquoise Egger) who were randomly bred by one of our 4 roosters (Lavender Ameraucana & Crested Cream Legbar).
We collect 2-3 dozen eggs daily, and only ship the freshest & cleanest eggs we have on hand. Most eggs we ship are less than 24hrs old, and we never ship eggs that we wouldn't feel confident putting in our own incubator. Eggs are packaged immediately after your purchase, and will be shipped as soon as possible following payment (
usually within 36hrs, unless it's the weekend and we have to wait until Monday for USPS to open...in which case we wait to collect & package your eggs until the day prior to USPS
reopening
). Therefore it's important you pay as soon as possible, so that your packaged eggs don't sit around any longer than necessary before shipping (
the sooner they get to you, the better the chance they have at hatching
). If for some reason your order will take longer to fill, we will reach out and let you know as soon as possible. Depending on demand, orders could take up to 3 days to get shipped (
in which case
the eggs sent to you will still be freshly collected the day prior to shipping
).
Your eggs will be shipped inside of proprietary foam shipping blocks, snugly tucked inside of custom-cut egg compartments surrounded by air cushions. We've had very good results with this shipping method, and only had 1 customer report a broken egg in 2020 (out of over 1000 eggs shipped). Local pickup is available if you are close to Tuscaloosa or Birmingham AL. We average about a 95% hatch rate with these eggs on our farm, but keep in mind that shipping will likely decrease your hatch rate (and possibly drastically if mishandled during shipment).
WE REALLY REALLY WANT THESE EGGS TO HATCH FOR YOU!
We never ship eggs that we wouldn't put in our own incubator, and always do our best to make sure your eggs get to you intact and in a timely manner so that you have the best shot at a good hatch rate.
BUT PLEASE...refrain from rating us according to your hatch rate
, as there are too many factors out of our control that contribute to poor hatching following shipment (
temperature, moisture, shaking, falling, bumping, dropping, rolling, being crushed, shipping delays, etc.
). Instead, please rate us according to what we CAN control: secure packaging, communication, & speed of getting your package in the mail once payment received.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE RISK OF ABYSMAL HATCH RATES
when incubating shipped eggs.
*Do not bid on this auction if you are unwilling to accept the risk of a poor hatch rate secondary to shipping stress
. We do not offer refunds for poor hatch rates. Although we often get customer feedback reporting 80-100% hatch rates, unfortunately sometimes eggs are treated poorly en route to their destination leading to disappointing hatches. This is beyond our control and therefore we do not offer any sort of guarantee on how many of your eggs will hatch. Simply put, eggs were not designed to withstand the stress of shipping....we do our best to protect them on their way to you, but sometimes it is not enough. By placing a bid on this auction, you are accepting the risk of a 0% hatch rate.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via eBay. Happy hatching, and we hope you love your new chickens as much as we love ours!
