Here is a nice Art-I So banjo with an interesting history for your buying consideration.
Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself!
A very fancy banjo here by Art-I-So.  Has the numbering on the banjo of "55" and "0826" when take off the back sounding plate, so made in 1926.
This fine Musical Instrument is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or music shop, as we have been selling artwork out of our home for over 35 years.  We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the higher end auction houses and music shops experience

The banjo has 3 inlaid gold bands on the side of the body of the banjo, and two inlaid circular bands on the back wood piece.   Also the tuning board on the top has a gold finish to it.
Also, this banjo was either sold, or worked on out of the Dana Morgan's Music Shop Palo Alto, CA that Jerry Garcia of Grateful Dead played, practiced, and gave lessons.  The store owner's son was also the Bass player for Garcia's band for a short time.
Great Vintage Art-I-So 4 string banjo for your here.  The tuner pegs appear to match and look appropriate to the banjo.   Remco head is intact on the banjo.  Needs to be reset as some waviness at the top.  The bridge is intact and in the storage compartment.  Nice wood hand rest piece at the bottom that looks appropriate to the piece.
The nickel plated j bolts, hex nuts, and shoes are all in place.  Neck is firmly attached to the body.  Peg head looks good.  No cracks, splits or repairs.  Same is true with the 4 tuner peg holes, no damage.  Beautiful finish still on the neck, dowel stick, and peg head.  The 19 Frets are all in place.  Some loss of finish to the neck most noticeable on the upper part back.   No ridging to the fingerboard that would impact playing.  The dots in the fingerboard are done in the same gold paint used for the inlay on the banjo body and the top of the tuner board!
This Art-I-So banjo is 33" tall, by 13.5" across, by 2-7/8 wide at head (3-1/8" tall at top of neck when laid down).  The distance between the nut and 19th fret is 15-3/8".  The semi-hard case shows some wear.  The plastic handle on the case is broken.
This musical instrument is not represented to be in playing condition.  There most likely will need to be refurbishing done to make this instrument playable again.
