EXCELLENT ANTIQUE STANDARD PLAYER ACTIONS PIANO BELLOWS TRACKER CLEANER-VERY OLD
This is a truly unique and unusual item that I dare say very few people nowadays have ever seen or had before.
In fact, it is an item that I have attempted to research and have discussed with a few experts in player pianos. The consensus confirms what I initially thought is the case. Please understand I am still not positive my description is fully accurate and the item is being sold “AS IS” with no guarantees or warranties of any kind. Please review the pictures carefully and make your own judgments.
The Standard Pneumatic Action Company manufactured player action mechanisms that were an integral part of perhaps the majority of player pianos in the early 1900s.
The item shown in the pictures is a small bellows like device that was intended to be used in order to create a vacuum in order to pull out dust or debris from the inside of the tracker bar and/or the tracker tubing that leads from the tracker bar to the valve chest in player pianos.
People who are familiar with player pianos are probably aware of the more modern versions of these tracking mechanism cleaners.
The item in this sale is probably not functionally feasible to serve its intended purpose anymore. However, it is in excellent structural and aesthetic condition and displays very well on or near a piano or just about anywhere else you may choose to display it.
It is an extremely interesting, nice looking and decorative conversation piece. It is in near mint condition, given its age and use, and I don’t believe too many are still available.
