Description
You are bidding on 1 dozen Lavender English Orpington eggs. These are from show/exhibition quality lines. You will not find English Orpingtons like these from a feed store or backyard farmer. I pride myself on having some of the most stunning birds in the US.My stock is the true English type. True English Orpingtons look vastly different from hatchery or utility type Orpingtons. My birds have huge, round bodies, with correct heads, excellent pigment, and stunning feather quality. I breed to the UK standard. Do not be fooled by other sellers on eBay that claim they have the English variety. Compare my pics to their pics - you will see the quality difference. I’m only selling a limited number of eggs this season. There is a huge demand for my eggs and chicks, and as much as I would love to be able to fulfill all the requests I get, I have to keep some eggs for myself to hatch out.
English Orpingtons are an excellent dual purpose breed. The hens are super layers, giving me a lovely, light-brown egg almost every day. Occasionally they take short egg laying sabbaticals in the winter, but it’s not really typical of my girls. My girls are also great setters, but they are not constantly broody. So, it’s helpful if you want to let your girls to hatch their own chicks. But, they aren’t so broody that your egg production suffers. These birds also carry quite a bit of meat, and many people choose to process them for meat. I don’t personally cull my stock for meat, but it’s quite obvious why some people do.
My birds are incredibly hearty. I have never lost a bird during our Montana winters. In fact, these guys are so sturdy and long lived, that I currently have one of my pens that both the rooster and hens are 4 years old and still laying strong, and the rooster is still breeding and has excellent fertility rates. English Orpingtons are known for their lovey temperaments as well. They are sweet, friendly, and curious birds. I have never had an aggressive rooster. And, my boys are wonderful with their hens, (both gentle and protective).
I currently have a stunning black English Orpington rooster over my lavender hens. It is critical to breed blacks to Lavenders in order to improve feather quality and type. Lavenders are prone to carrying a frayed feather gene. Blacks typically have excellent feather structure, hence breeding them to the lavenders to increase your odds of having correct lavender feather type. So, in your future hatch from purchasing the eggs in this auction, you will have both lavenders as well as blacks. If you have more detailed questions about breeding and colors, etc, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m happy to teach people about genetics.
Lastly, I want to address my feedback. I had 100% positive feedback for the last 15+ years. Until last year that is. I had 3 buyers in a row that left me not-nice feedback. USPS had damaged their eggs, and/or had delayed delivery. I had stated VERY clearly in my auctions that I do not offer refunds. Period. For those of you that are egg sellers, you already know the many difficulties we have selling eggs on eBay. Buyers are frequently new to buying eggs, new to receiving shipped eggs, and new to incubating. At any rate, out of each of the negative feedbacks I received, I won the PayPal disputes on EVERY one and never had to return a penny to these buyers. Each one of these buyers had demanded a refund. At any rate, after these experiences, I took a lengthy break from eBay. I just didn’t think I could deal with unfair buyers anymore. However, after having hundreds of messages begging me to offer my eggs again, I have decided to try it again. My number one priority has ALWAYS been to have buyers that have successful hatches. I do everything in my power to guide my buyers through all parts of the process. I take my chicken farming incredibly seriously. This is not simply a hobby for me. The fact that I had to literally walk away from eBay due to being so upset from receiving negative feedback should tell you how much my heart is wrapped up in my customers. I also find it on incredibly frustrating that eBay now shows a feedback percentage based ONLY on the last 12 months. So even though I have sold over 200 items with 100% feedback over the last 15 years, it now looks like I have this horrid feedback percentage because of the way they’re doing the math only based on this last year’s feedbacks. Ugh. Anyway, you get the point. Im a seller that genuinely cares about my feedback and having happy customers. Thank you for reading this, I know it was not short.
So, to clarify my policy as a seller. I do NOT offer refunds, not for any reason. If usps damages your shipment or it’s delayed, the BUYER is responsible for opening up a claim with them, NOT me. I do not send replacement eggs. Again, this is why I insure all packages. You will be able to receive a FULL refund directly from USPS. I do not produce enough eggs to be able to send replacements. It is always my intention to go above and beyond the buyer’s expectations, but unfortunately I don’t have control over the millions of variables when it comes to hatching eggs. I can’t control usps and I can’t control how you choose to attempt to incubate your eggs. However, I am ALWAYS here to answer ANY questions and to help you with your hatch! Nothing makes me happier than to assist a new person with their eggs and for them to have an excellent hatch. But I will say this, if you’re not willing to literally throw your money in the trash, do NOT buy hatching eggs. I can’t tell you how many times iv bought shipped eggs and NONE hatch. Granted, I generally have had very good experiences when I’ve bought shipped eggs for myself. But again, you need to be prepared for failure and NOT blame the seller. I experience an almost 100% fertility with my eggs here at the farm, as well as a close to 95% hatch rate. These are good numbers. And I package very well so that your eggs should arrive intact. I will also do anything in my power to assist the seller with any and all issues they may have.
Please ask any and all questions PRIOR to bidding. Payment is due within 24 hours of auction end. PayPal is the only accepted method of payment. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to read this VERY wordy auction! You will not be disappointed in hatching eggs from my gorgeous birds. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
(FYI - eggs are collected at the time of the auction end. It can sometimes take a couple days to gather fresh eggs. Your eggs will ship as soon as they are available. Hence, do not expect your fresh eggs to ship the minute the auction ends. I do not keep eggs just sitting on my counter, waiting to be shipped. I collect the freshest eggs possible to give you the best odds of having a great hatch. Eggs are shipped USPS Priority, which is generally 2-3 days. (If you would like to expedite shipping faster AND that is guaranteed an exact delivery date, please let me know and I will let you know what the shipping price will be).
