    Description

    Title:
Antique Presentation Water Pitcher & Cup
    Description:
Presented for your consideration is this neat antique presentation water pitcher and cup. The silverplated set was made by the
    Standard Metal Company
and has an ornate design around the spout and an ornate floral band around the bottom of the jug. Engraved on the sides of the pitcher are ornate vines. The pitcher sits inside of an arch shaped holder which allows the pitcher to tilt forward to pour the water out. Pitcher easily moves. The pitcher also lifts off of the holder to use the pitcher freehand. The pitcher is completed with a lid which easily goes on and off of the base. Sitting in front of the pitcher is a goblet shaped cup with a round base and fat stem. Near the top of the goblet is a ornate design pattern. The cup easily comes on and off of the pedestal. The front of the pitcher is engraved with "Presented to E. Clint by Brockville Lodge 175 A.O.U.W. Brockville Feby 11th 1898." A.O.U.W. stands for the Ancient Order of United Workmen. This was a fraternal organization in the United States and Canada that provided social and financial support after the American Civil War. It offered insurance for sickness, accident, death and burial. It eventually was taken over by American United Life Insurance Company. This neat water pitcher would make a great addition to any fraternal or silverplate collection!
Top edge of the cup shows some light bending around the top and bottom edges. Light bending is also around the bottom edge of the holder. Top edge of the pitcher has 2 small dings in the top edge. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition for its age. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
When together the set measures approximately 12 1/2" from the back of the pitcher handle to the front of the cup pedestal, 8 1/2" wide at the widest point and 21" tall.
