Description
This is a Regent - Blasius and Sons Upright Player Piano from about 1910 I think. I had plans to repair it and only once it was in my house did I realize it wouldn’t fit where I wanted it. It’s too big for my house and I’d like it to go to a good home. I also then figured out exactly how much work and money is involved in getting one of these working. My goal is to give this basically free to someone who will care for it.The good:
- All keys play and make sound
- There are no stuck keys
- It appears to be complete
- Always house-kept as far as I know
- All mechanisms appear to be free-moving
- I have made no attempts at repair, I’ve only examined the mechanisms and haven’t broken anything
The bad:
- Player mechanism does not play. Roll does not even move. Previous owner said that the bellows needs to be redone. When I opened up the top and front cover, that’s when I figured out that every vacuum actuator on this thing is a bellows, so I think there must be at least 90 of them.
- It’s a half-step out of tune
- All of the small rubber tubes are hard and brittle and some are broken
- Cabinet is fairly rough
If it’s not obvious, this is pick up only at buyer’s cost. It is exceedingly heavy and will take a few friends, a ramp to get down my back steps, and a truck. I would recommend movers, which is how it got into my house. As-is sale.
