Description
1970's era archtop banjo handmade from a Stewart MacDonald Eagle Banjo kit. Looks great and plays great! This banjo has a 11" all aluminum arch top rim. These rims are similar to sand cast aluminum rims used on Ode banjos.
Pot assembly has a one-piece flange and 24 bracket hooks. The flange and resonator can be removed to change the banjo into an openback.
Lovely Mahogany neck with a satin finish, a rosewood fingerboard, and bone nut.
Nice mother of pearl position dots and abalone star on the peghead. The neck is nice and straight and notes true up and down. The neck has an adjustable truss rod covered up by the peg head overlay.
Frets are in excellent condition with almost no wear. Railroad spikes have been added at the 7th and 10th frets for easy capoing. String height is 3mm above the 12th fret.
Tuners are newer planetary-type and the 5th string peg is geared. All with pearloid knobs.
The decorative armrest is from a 1970's era Alvarez masterclone. The tailpiece is nickel-plated brass Waverly style.
Like the neck, the resonator is made from beautiful Honduran mahogany and features double black binding and a satin finish.
The banjo is in great condition overall. There are some minor nicks and scratches here and there (please review photos).
This is a loud and responsive picking machine with a bright and punchy tone with some really nice projection.
Includes hardshell case designed for an archtop banjo.
