Description
Here's something you don't see every day! This absolutely gorgeous Vega Little Wonder tenor banjo from 1929-30 is something very special, and it's in truly fantastic shape for its age. The star of the show here is the carved 2-piece maple resonator back with a beautiful inlaid wood pattern on the back; if there are any other examples of this particular pattern out there in the world, they never made it to the Internet, because this appears to be a one-of-a-kind instrument, or close to it! The rest of the banjo is in tip top shape as well; comfortable neck with 19-fret ebony fretboard, maple rim w/ 28 lugs, Grover nickel tailpiece, Page "E" nickel tuners (one's a replacement; original is included in case). This instrument is in fantastic condition for its age; the only real cosmetic marks are some small finish cracks on the headstock, a few scratches on some of the hardware, some very light fretwear, minor discoloration on some of the metal components, and the replacement tuner. The head shows some signs of play but has plenty of life in it, and the replacement bridge is in good shape as well. Included is the ORIGINAL case in somewhat rough but functional shape, original tuner and bridge, Vega stamped tuning wrench. Freshly set up and ready to play, this banjo has a full, warm and bright tone with looks to match!
