Description
Virol was nutritional additive given to British children during the hard-times after the wars....I'm assuming both of them. The ingredients sound awful, but like Marmite, think Vitamin B (and try to forget the sodium). This is a VERY RARE gift set put out by the company, looks to be silver plated, no sign of actual use, and is hallmarked with the the capital letters: EPNS, which means it is BRITISH ELECTRO PLATE.The is exceeding rare, and from the producing company.... I've found nothing but empty VIROL bottles online...nothing on gift-sets. The style of the box and the silverware is turn of the century. If someone can offer a more concrete date, I will update the listing right away. I'm guessing 1912 or so. Possibly after the the Great War when they had already gotten BIG....so no later than, say 1922, 1923. ALL help welcome, and I truly love the history behind these sort items. I'd rather get it right if possible.
