Description
This banjo is a replica of the one portrayed in the "Old Plantation" painting from the late 18th century. The drum is goatskin, secured with hand-carved wooden pegs. The strings are attached in a bit of a weird way, in order to get the right sound. Under the leather "nut" are loops which clamp down each string to get the best, clearest sound possible. I also made the tailpiece a bit different in order to prevent warping and maximize the lifespan of the banjo. Other than these slight performance-improving alterations, this banjo is truly accurate to the Colonial Era. 24" neck of poplar wood, bloodwood tuning pegs and bridge.4 strings, 1 thumb string and 3 melody strings.
Great for reenacting, teaching, or simply playing for fun.
