Description
This vintage eight string Banjo Mandolin is in good condition, and seems to be a good candidate for restoration(I'm not a musician or instrument restorer, so please zoom or enlarge any of the photos for a closer look at the condition).
The neck is straight and securely attached to the body, but the nut is missing, and the 8 3/4" long fret board is worn in spots, so it may need to be replaced. The head has no tears, but it is worn. The metal band on the top of the 12 7/8" diameter body/resonator has some rust discoloration. The neck, body, resonator and birdseye maple back all have some scuffs & scratches and finish wear. The headstock has no name on it, so I don't know who made the instrument. Since the nut is missing, and there is no bridge with the instrument, I can't be 100% sure of the scale length, but I would estimate it to be 14" to 15" based on the two faint marks on the head where it looks like the bridge most likely was. The 25" long instrument is solidly built, weighing about 4 1/2 lbs. USPS boxed retail ground shipping will be .00 in the U.S.
